Tigers look to extend program's best gridiron start on Saturday

Friday, November 5, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- DePauw, ranked 21st by the American Football Coaches Association and 22nd by D3football.com, wraps up the home portion of the regular season when it hosts Austin College this Saturday. Kickoff from Blackstock Stadium is set for 1 p.m.

The Tigers have already clinched at least a share of their fourth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title and the conference's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championship for the second straight year, but with a win over Austin can earn the program's first outright SCAC title.

The Kangaroos are 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the SCAC. Austin was idle last week but is coming off a 17-16 win over Rhodes on Oct. 24.

DePauw is 8-0 for the first time in school history after last Saturday's 30-23 win over Birmingham-Southern.

The Tigers have won all four meetings between the two schools including all three in Greencastle. DePauw claimed a 34-23 home win last year.

The game also marks the final regular season contest at Blackstock Stadium for 30 seniors who have totaled 31 wins in four years and can establish a DePauw 4-year record with a victory on Saturday.

Saturday's game will be carried live by WGRE (91.5 FM) with live stats available.
