Greencastle Middle School swimmers split

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle Middle School swim team competed against Speedway Wednesday, battling to a split. The boys won 109-64, while the girls fell in a close one 93-90.

Taylor Secrest won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:40.10, while Jason Ummel won the 50-yard free in 28 seconds flat. Alex Briones captured the 400-yard free in a time of 5:17.52.

Elijah Brattain dominated the 100-yard free with a time of 54.86, a full 14 seconds ahead of second place. He also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.53.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Brattain, Briones, Jacob Kessler and Brayden Watson won with a time of 2:13.33, with Watson, Brattain, Kessler and Ummel teamed up to win the 400-yard free relay in 4:39.05. Ummel, Briones, Cameron Lewis and Mitchell Johnson won the 200-yard free relay in a time of 2:09.87.

On the girls' side, Quinci Miller and Libby Brush captured two individual wins each. Miller won the 50-yard free (29.59) and the 100-yard free (1:09.17), while Brush won the 400-yard free (5:22.88) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.04).

They were also members of two winning relay teams. They teamed up with Amelia Smith and Nicolette Peters to win the 200-yard medley relay in 2:24.18 and with Kristen Stevens and Smith to take the 400-yard free relay in 5:01.73.
