North Putnam baseball falls to Cadets twice

CLAYTON -- North Putnam dropped a pair of games to Cascade Tuesday.

The Cougars lost the first game 16-1 and fell 10-0 in the second.

While the games were struggles on the surface, Cougar coach Norm Fish had some positives to find.

"That second game was actually one of our better games defensively in the last four or five," Fish said.

Individually, the coach has also been seeing some nice things at the plate.

"A couple of kids are starting to hit consistently. Freshman Tyler Badten has hit safely in the last three games. Mychael Buchanan is starting to hit the ball better. Austin Day is starting to hit the ball of late."

Badten, Buchanan, Day and Brandon Kimmel all had hits for the Cougars.

In the second game, Badten, Tyler Watson and Buchanan each went 1-for-2.

It has been an uphill battle for North this year, but Fish says he sees improvement.

"We haven't given up; we're still playing the game," Fish said. "We just have to put together our bats in a couple of innings and hopefully keep the other team down in the run category early on, and hopefully things will turn around for us."
