Purdue's 'CSI guy' to present Jan. 26 programs locally

A program on emergency preparedness will highlight a dinner program sponsored by the Purdue Club of Putnam County Jan. 26 at Autumn Glen.

The 6:30 p.m. dinner will feature Dr. David Tate, sometimes known as Purdue's "CSI Guy," with a program he has been presenting nationally to groups involved in preparation for and reaction to emergency situations.

Dr. Tate presented a program on crime scene investigation two years ago to the Purdue Club and to students at North Putnam and South Putnam high schools.

This year's program will feature a simulated emergency situation and involve the attendees.

Prior to the dinner program, Tate will present the program to a group of students at Cloverdale High School on the morning of Jan. 26, and at Greencastle High School and the Area 30 Law Enforcement class that afternoon. Area police and firefighters are also invited to the programs.

Dr. Tate is currently an academic adviser and director of clinical programs for the School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue.

He also served as the inaugural chairman of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and initiated and served as the coordinator of Purdue's crime scene investigation and forensics courses.
