The South Putnam girls' seventh grade basketball team got a big win recently, knocking off Cloverdale 30-21. The Eagles had several tough games, against Clay City, North Clay, Rockville and Tri-West, before pulling out the county victory. New courthouse boiler to be operational soon

With an obvious chill in the air at their Tuesday evening meeting, the Putnam County Commissioners approved the purchase of a new Putnam County Courthouse boiler. Maintenance staff moved quickly, with the unit onsite by Wednesday afternoon. The Greencastle Thunder sixth-grade girls' basketball team swept all four recent tournament games, winning the Bronze division in the Indy Girls' Hoops League. The IGHL held tournament games on Sunday, Feb. 10 at Beech Grove and Sunday, Feb. 17 at Plainfield. The team, having played together the past two years, consists of Aubrey Barker, Claire Gillen, Seelye Stoffregen, Sydney Lewis, Jalyn Duff, Gretchen Weliever and Bailey Shuee.
