Superhero Super Bowl trailers
Watching the Super Bowl this past weekend, I was a little disappointed in the selection of commercials. Of course the mini Darth Vader ad was awesome, but other than that I wasn't impressed. What I was impressed by, however, was some movie trailers, namely "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger".
I love me some good comic book flicks and I think these two might be awesome, especially "Captain America". I'm glad Hollywood is sticking with making legitimate or at least legitimate attempts, to make the movies less campy and more mainstream.
Was impressed the most with either of these trailers is the look of "Captain America". I've tried to steer clear of any images from the film, so when I heard it wasn't going to be the suit we're all used to, I was concerned. But the film's people tweaked the suit just right and gave it an awesome WWII combat look that fits the character perfectly.
In the case of "Thor", I think it will be a good movie, but nothing to blow your hair back. I think it will blend a little more of the campy humor into the story, which I don't think it needs. Chris Hemsworth looks pretty amazing as the Norse god of thunder.
The only other two trailers I found interesting was "Rango" starring Johnny Depp and "Super 8". Otherwise, we saw a predictable "Transformers" spot, one for "The Fast and the Furious", which looked a tad lame and "Battle: Los Angeles", which I'm still on the fence about.
