Some lies can be deadly (1/21/21)To the Editor: I feel sorry for Trump supporters who have been fed a steady supply of lies until they became members of the Trump cult unable to think for themselves. Most of the lies were small but two of them were deadly. The first was, “COVID is fake news.” Had Trump only shared the truth, hospitals and doctors could have begun to prepare instead of being taken by surprise. We have now lost 400,000 people to Trump’s “fake news.”...

Baird has violated oath of office (1/18/21)To the Editor: James Richard Baird, as a representative of the Fourth District, has violated his oath of office to the Constitution of the United States of America. He voted to deny the count of millions of legal and legitimate votes. His vote was a clear-cut effort to overthrow the election of the president of the United States. He has trashed our democracy...

Thank you, Congressman Baird (1/18/21)To the Editor: Supporters of President Donald Trump are being told to accept that Joe Biden, a candidate that could not entice more than 20 people to attend his rallies, but yet he somehow gardened the most votes in history. We are supposed to accept that Biden won the presidency, while carrying only 16 percent of counties, the lowest in history — yet in some of those counties Biden received more votes than eligible voters...

Vote by Baird, others a different form of attack (1/11/21)To the Editor: Last week while rioters, fueled by the incendiary rhetoric of President Donald Trump, were launching an assault on the U.S. Capitol, the very seat of our democracy, legislators inside that same structure were employing a different type of attack. ...

I remember as an active member in the Greencastle Civic League years ago that the seed was planted to have lights in the park like those in Danville. Now that seed has bloomed with spectacular color and imagination...

LETTER: President’s election behavior irresponsible (12/21/20)To the Editor: “The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a charming fairy tale that I never thought I would see played out before my eyes. But indeed we have a U.S. president strutting about in his underwear proclaiming loudly that he is wearing the grandest new clothes -- or in this case, proclaiming that he has won a second term when he actually lost the popular vote and the electoral vote...

My wife Pat died eight weeks ago today (Dec. 1). My gratitude goes out to those who cared for her, at Mill Pond, Asbury Towers and Life’s Journey Hospice at Avon. We are still in contact with some and wish them well until this China virus is passed...
