Hoops for Heroes benefit scheduled

Local emergency service members will be competing in the Hoops for Heroes basketball tournament April 3 and 4. The Hoops for Heroes tournament is an event planned to help local Special Olympic athletes. On Friday, the hardcourt action will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Players will return to the court at 8 a.m. Saturday and will continue until a winner is crowned. Daniel Bretscher can stop chasing that dream because he has been awarded the 2008 Elite Rookie Athlete of the Year award by USA Triathlon.
