Greencastle Board of Works members approved the 2018 city water and wastewater budgets as presented at their January meeting but not before hearing City Clerk-Treasurer Lynda Dunbar warn, “It’s getting to the point we may need to discuss a rate increase.”...

RUSSELLVILLE -- The Russellville Town Council approved the town’s annual contract with the Russellville Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD), with the change of $10,000 instead of $5,000, at its first regular meeting of 2018 Monday night. The change comes as the RVFD will soon be faced with purchasing $40,000 of breathing apparatus for all 21 firefighters. The department is required by state law to replace the equipment every 15 years...

The Wabash Valley South High School Bowling Conference had its team sectionals on Saturday at Lebanon. Nine boys and co-ed teams competed for three spots in the regional at Plaza Lanes in Crawfordsville on Saturday. The teams bowled 12 games of baker format, with the to three teams then bowling in a step-ladder to roll off for determining the sectional champion...

Greencastle’s Tiger Sharks swimming teams said goodbye to their senior members on Wednesday with big wins over West Vigo. “They are all very, very important to our team,” GHS coach Kent Menzel said. “Grace Gillen, Preston Headley, Jackson Kendall, Jack Riggle and J.J. Custis have all done amazing work as swimmers and as team leaders.”...
