South Putnam is selling presale tickets to its second week matchup against Tri-West at Lucas Oil Stadium Aug. 25. Tickets are $10 presale and $13 at the stadium the day of the game. The Eagles and Bruins will face off at noon. Tickets are also available for South Putnam's Aug. 10 scrimmage against Indianapolis Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. and their season opener against Owen Valley on Aug. 17 at 7 p.m...

DePauw and Greencastle High School graduate Mark Hiemenz was recently named the head women's soccer coach at Hastings College in Nebraska. Two people were booked into the Putnam Count Jail on Thursday, Aug. 2. A 37-year-old Cloverdale man was arrested on drug-related charges late Thursday on the city's East Side, Greencastle City Police reported. Chad William Wilson was stopped on Indianapolis Road by Capt. Charles Inman at 11:45 p.m. and was lodged in the Putnam County Jail a few minutes later...

Greencastle's Century Club, a group for women, called its final meeting recently. One of Greencastle's oldest clubs, the Century Club was founded on Dec. 1, 1892 by Minetta Taylor and Annie Payne Ader. The founders wrote, "The object of the association is to promote intellectual and social culture, to encourage interchange of thought, and a free unbiased discussion of progressive ideas and questions presented during the year."...

A 39-year-old Greencastle woman, already accused of writing nearly $6,000 in bogus checks from her former employer's account, is now facing nine additional counts of forgery in another case. Bambi Bicknell, who already faces an Aug. 9 appearance in Putnam Circuit Court, has been charged in connection with the theft of checks from Vernon Hendrickson, Greencastle, whose address is listed as identical to hers in court documents...
