With lifeguard and weather issues, the Greencastle Aquatic Center has only been open for about five days after launching the summer season on June 1. The first is how he allowed the Greencastle All-America City Committee to utilize Media Center expertise to shoot a video that accompanied the committee’s pitch before a panel of judges selecting 10 winners from among 30 finalists at San Antonio in 1991...

In the name of making more land available for housing development, Putnam County may soon reduce the minimum parcel size in agricultural districts. In a 7-0 vote Wednesday evening, the Putnam County Plan Commission moved to reduce the minimum parcel size in both Agricultural 1 and Agricultural 2 districts...

DePauw men’s tennis student-athlete Wyatt Metzger (Westfield, Ind./ Guerin Catholic) has earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship award. Cami Henry (Camby, Ind./Mooresville), a May graduate and pitcher on the DePauw softball team, has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America® Division III Softball First Team for the second-straight season. A communication and Hispanic studies double major, Henry earned similar honors last year and is one of just four student-athletes on this year's team to repeat the honor...

DePauw first baseman and May graduate Kyle Callahan (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) has been selected as the 2022 Phil Eskew Award recipient as DePauw’s top senior student-athlete competing on a men’s team. Callahan will be DePauw’s nominee for the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Don Hunsinger Award...

DePauw softball pitcher Cami Henry (Camby, Ind./Mooresville) and track and field standout Erin Pasch (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) have been selected as co-recipients of DePauw’s Amy Hasbrook Award as the top senior student-athletes competing on women’s teams. Pasch will be DePauw’s nominee for the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Pam Smith Award and the NCAA Woman of the Year Award...

A month after the initial announcement, South Putnam graduate Chloe Pistelli was honored along with 11 others in receiving the IHSAA’s C. Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarship at the Thomas A. Brady Sports Achievement Awards Dinner held at the Renaissance Hotel in Indianapolis last week...

MONTGOMERY — Greencastle finished the 2022 boys’ golf season with a 13th-place finish at the IHSAA Washington Boys’ Golf Regional Thursday. “The course played very difficult as the Cubs had numerous penalties and lots of putts from the tough pin placements,” Greencastle head coach Steve Paquin said. “It’s not the way we wanted to end the season, but we didn’t give up and played hard to the last hole.”...

Peter Crary, DePauw assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach, has been selected as the inaugural Spirit of Tim Hreha Award recipient. The award is in honor of Tim Hreha who came to DePauw as a student-athlete in 1969 and, following graduation, embarked on a coaching and teaching career that included nearly 50 years in various capacities at DePauw until his death in January 2022...

Michael H. Stansbery Sr., 79, of Cloverdale, passed away on Nov. 2, 2021. He was taken to Methodist Hospital on Aug. 24, 2021.
